HC halts criminal proceedings against Nizamabad Bar chief
Hyderabad: The division bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji on Thursday halted proceedings in a criminal case filed against the president of the Nizamabad Bar Association, Yerran Ganapathi.
The court also issued notices to the Chief Secretary of Telangana, Principal Secretary of the home department, DGP, Nizamabad collector, Nizamabad
additional collector and superintendent of police to file their counters over an FIR registered against Ganapathi.
The court took up a suo motu writ petition over a case in which Ganapathi and the bailiff, who went to the collectorate to hand over district judiciary warrants of property attachments, were behaved rudely with.
Ganapathi wrote a letter to the High Court, stating that the additional collector of Nizamabad and other subordinates behaved rudely and assaulted him and accompanying court staff, when they were visiting on official work.
Further, he alleged that a criminal case was lodged against them on a complaint given by the administrative officer of the collectorate.
The same letter was taken cognizance of by the court.
