Mandya MP criticises lathi charge on farmers
BENGALURU: Stating that the newly constructed Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway works have been carried out in an “unscientific” manner, Mandya Lok Sabha member Sumalatha Ambareesh on Monday lashed at the police over lathicharge on agitating farmers who had blocked the yet to be inaugurate expressway demanding an underpass for the convenience of the residents.
In her post on a social media, the Mandya MP assured to stand with the farmers in getting their demand fulfilled and stated that she had repeatedly brought to the notice of officials concerned of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) over the “unscientific” execution of works on the Expressway but nothing substantial happened so far.
She also pointed out that she had apprised the officials concerned that the works would create problems in future.
While Mandya Lok Sabha member Sumalatha assured to support the residents of Hanakere in demanding an underpass, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha expressed displeasure over blockade of Expressway by farmers.
