CM extends help for kidney transplantation of Volunteer

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday promised to provide financial support from the government for a kidney transplant to an ailing Volunteer whose both kidneys were damaged.

The CM announced financial aid of ₹10 lakhs and a social security pension of ₹10,000 per month to the patient.

Jakkula Venkamma, mother of Volunteer Jakkula Sombabu brought the plight of his son to the notice of Jagan Reddy. The CM immediately responded by advising NTR district collector Dilli Rao to provide financial aid.

After completion of the programme, volunteer Sombabu met the chief minister along with his mother Venkamma and brothers Janardhan and Naveen. Sombabu explained to the CM about his kidney problem.

The CM asked the collector to sanction ₹2 lakhs as immediate financial assistance. This apart, he announced ₹10 lakh financial aid from the CM’s Relief Fund. The CM also directed the officials to sanction ₹10,000 as pension to the volunteer per month for the dialysis.

The collector later in the day presented a ₹2 lakh cheque to the volunteer, who was working at Kanuru in Krishna district.
