Congress leaders celebrate Rahul's birthday

HYDERABAD: Congress leaders celebrated the 53rd birthday of party former president Rahul Gandhi with enthusiasm here on Monday. As part of the celebrations, many outreach programmes and blood donations camps were organised.

TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy took to Twitter to wish the leader. “To a fearless leader and to his unwavering commitment to keeping India united. To his unflinching faith in love, a love which is willing to forgive, to trust, to hope and to embrace differences. To our own ‘mohabbat ki dukaan’ (sic).”

A blood donation camp was held at Indira Bhavan by NSUI state president Balmuri Venkat. It was attended by senior leaders V. Hanumantha Rao, C.H. Rohin Reddy and Mettu Sai Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Rao said, “Our leader has promised to hold a caste-wise census if the party comes to power. This exercise will come in handy while increasing reservations as BCs form nearly 54 percent of the population.”

The birthday, the first after the party’s victories in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, was celebrated with gusto.

The party’s minority department organised a district outreach programme in Vikarabad. Former central minister Balram Naik distributed provisions sufficient for a month at an orphanage in Mahabubabad district headquarters.
