Kakinada: Following the instructions of Bhimavaram Principal Junior Civil Judge, Akividu police have identified the vehicle which ran over a cow, leading to its instantaneous death two months ago.
It may be recalled that on midnight of July 18, a vehicle ran over a cow at Akividu in West Godavari district. The cow died on the spot, leaving the accompanying calf motherless. Another cow arrived at the spot. Both the cow and calf grieved the death. The incident touched the hearts of many people.
Bhimavaram Principal Junior Civil Judge took suo motu cognisance of the incident and issued notices to Akividu police to trace out the vehicle and register the case.
Akividu sub-inspector S. Satya Sai told Deccan Chronicle that as per instructions of the judge, they registered a case under IPC 429 of the Animal Protection Act and started investigating.
Satya Sai said after thoroughly examining the CCTV cameras, they have identified the vehicle as a milk tanker. He underlined that police are now trying to trace the driver who caused the accident and issue notices to him.
