Maheshwar Reddy's hunger strike enters fourth day

Adilabad: The hunger strike led by BJP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy entered its fourth day in Nirmal on Saturday. Farmers took to the streets in Nirmal town, urging the state government to revoke the master plan and GO: 220. They staged a roadblock at the bus stand, prompting the police to use a mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd. A significant police presence was deployed in Nirmal town to prevent any untoward incidents.

Simultaneously, Goddam Vivek, a member of the party's national executive committee, and former MP, along with senior leader Aljapur Srinivas, expressed their solidarity with Maheshwar Reddy.

Ayyannagari Bhumanna, a senior BJP leader, stated to the media that there had been no response to the demands put forth by the BJP and the farmers. He also noted that Maheshwar Reddy's health was deteriorating day by day, as per the attending doctors who observed consistent drops in his blood sugar and blood pressure levels.

Meanwhile, BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy condemned the police's use of lathi charge against the BJP activists. He criticised the state government for its lack of response to Maheshwar Reddy's hunger strike, wherein he called for the cancellation of the master plan. He urged party leaders to arrange medical treatment for the injured BJP activists injured in the lathi charge.
