Hyderabad: A two-day nala survey in the IT corridor has revealed hundreds of encroachments. As per the guidelines given by the government, officials gathered information about the socio-economic status of the encroachers and marking the nala land based on land records and maps of the irrigation department generated in 1970, apart from the previous Google Maps of the nalas.
The IT corridor has 11 main nalas and all of them are now under the scanner of municipal, revenue, irrigation and other wings of GHMC’s Serilingampally circles 11 and 12.
Officials from both the circles said they were marking the nalas’ actual extension of lands and gathering information about the encroachers.
In the second phase, the government would issue notices to all the encroachers followed by demolition works.
Circle-11 deputy commissioner V.V. Manohar said the survey at the major nala from Durgam cheruvu to Malkam cheruvu in Raidurgam was completed and Nallagandla nala survey was 60 per cent completed.
“We are holding a survey at Khajaguda nala. So far, we have identified 106 establishments along Nallagandla nala, of which 30 are identified as illegal structures,” he said.
Serilingampally circle-12 deputy commissioner V. Mamatha is personally visiting the survey areas in Miyapur and other places. About four nalas existed under the jurisdiction of this circle. Officials identified that Patel cheruvu nala in Miyapur was badly encroached.
Besides these nalas, officials are holding surveys at Gopi cheruvu nala and PJR Colony nala.
In Kukatpally, too, officials identified encroached boundaries. Fathenagar nala was marked up to the buffer zone and 12 houses were identified as encroachments.
Under the supervision of Circle 14A deputy commissioner P. Narender Goud, officials marked encroachments at Allwyn Colony Dharani Nagar nala. It was found during the survey that the Kukatpally main nala had shrunk at various places from 52 ft to 150 ft as against its original 200 feet width.
The Rangathamuni cheruvu had shrunk to 3 ft as against 30 ft due to encroachments.
An official from the Kukatpally circle told this newspaper that the Jeedimetla chemical nala, Allapur, Babdu-guda, Old Bowenpally and Hasmathpet nalas would be widened after the survey.
