Congress Ticket Aspirants Oppose Allocation of Chennur Seat to CPI
Adilabad: Congress ticket aspirants are strongly opposing the party's decision to allocate Chennur seat to CPI as part of an alliance. They underline that such a move will only help BRS candidate Balka Suman.
As many as 13 Congress candidates, including Nukala Ramesh, Raja Ramesh, Durgam Bhaskar and Dasari Srinivas have applied for the Chennur ticket. Former MLA Nallala Odelu, who has joined the Congress is also an aspirant.
These aspirants are disappointed over news that Congress is sharing Chennur seat with CPI as part of an electoral understanding for jointly fighting the forthcoming elections.
They are approaching TPCC and AICC leaders to allocate some other seat to the CPI but not Chennur, as the communist party will be unable to win from Chennur against BRS nominee Balka Suman.
The Congress aspirants are hopeful, as allocation of Chennur ticket to CPI has not been officially finalised. Clarity on this could be available when the Congress releases its second list of party candidates.
Out of total 10 seats, Congress has announced its candidates only from Mancherial, Bellampalli and Nirmal.
Some of the ticket aspirants from Chennur have approached Koppula Raju, convener of Congress party’s SC, ST, BC and Minority cell. They have submitted to him a memorandum requesting that the ticket from Chennur be allotted only to a Congress nominee, so that the party could win the seat against Balka Suman.
Doubts are being raised whether Congress leaders and cadres will support Left leaders in case Chennur seat is allotted to CPI under the electoral understanding.
