Multiple Fire Incidents Rock Hyderabad, Prompt Response Averts Injuries
Hyderabad: The city witnessed four fire incidents on Friday, including at a hostel building in King Koti. No one was injured in the incidents and the fire brigade douses the three fires.
Fire broke out in Srinivasa Boy's Hostel operating from a ground plus two floors building at King Koti on Friday night. There were 15 hostellers at the time of the incident and they rushed out on hearing of the fire. The hostel can accommodate 30 persons; many of them had gone home for the Dasara vacations.
Alerted by the inmates, four fire tenders rushed to the spot. A snorkel vehicle which is used for rescuing persons trapped in tall buildings was also called in, However only two fire engines were used in the operation.
K. Chandrashekar, SFO, Assembly fire station, said the fire could have occurred due to an electrical short circuit. Further investigation is on, he added.
Elsewhere, fire broke at a garbage dump near Gate no 5 of the Telangana High Court. It was put off by a fire services team.
In another incident, a car was gutted at Kompally in the afternoon. The occupants escaped unhurt in the incident.
At about 8.40 am, fire broke out in a ladies emporium at Secunderabad's Palika Bazaar shopping complex. Two fire tenders from Secunderabad extinguished the fire in less than an hour. No one was injured; material in the store was gutted.
Passersby noticed smoke coming from the complex and alerted fire and police. Soon, thick smoke engulfed the area. Officials said the gunny bags users for packing material caught fire, causing the smoke.
