Gandhi Medical College Suspends MBBS Student for Ragging
Hyderabad: Gandhi Medical College on Friday suspended a third MBBS year student for a year for ragging juniors at the boys hostel. The victim had posted a complaint in the box set up by the anti-ragging committee four days ago.
Sources said the student had called five freshers for interactions in his room at odd hours and asked them to do physical exercises.
Committee members including director of medical education Dr K. Ramesh Reddy, who is also the college principal, and hospital superintendent Dr M. Raja Rao inquired into the incident and found the student guilty.
Dr Raja Rao told Deccan Chronicle, “The action has been taken to set an example against ragging. We are taking all measures to curb ragging on the campus. We urge the newcomers not to be afraid and warn the seniors that there will be zero tolerance for ragging.”
In September, the college had suspended ten MBBS students, five from each second and third years, for ragging juniors.
