US-based school dean visits FCRI

Hyderabad: Dr Janaki Ram Reddy Alavalapati, a professor and dean of Alabama-based School of Forestry and Wildlife Science, visited the Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) located on the outskirts of Hyderabad and interacted with its faculty and other staffers.Mulugu-based FCRI is exploring the prospects of faculty development and collaborative activities between two institutes.

Various issues ranging from pertaining to collaboration to experiences on Forestry Education, Research and Extension programmes implemented in Auburn University. was discussed during the interaction. He also shared his inputs on various aspects related to Forest based Entrepreneurship, Economics and Marketing.

The latter explained about certain subjects like wood science and technology to be renamed as Biomaterial Engineering. Packaging industries has immense potential from biomaterials, wildlife entrepreneurship management as business and hospitality models. Cross He also suggested to have nature camping activities for a one month duration. Faculty members of the Auburn School of Forestry and Wildlife Science in video based classrooms, lectures helping in designing new courses.
