People rush to marry before onset of next Coronavirus wave
Adilabad: Parents planning weddings of their sons or daughters are in a hurry to complete the ceremonies fearing the onset of the third Coronavirus wave, including the highly contagious Omicron variant.
Many fear that the situation in next two months will be far different from the current one. Government is quite likely to impose conditions on big gatherings and functions. Families of prospective bride and grooms and those who are engaged want to avoid possible restrictions on the number of guests who can attend.
A large number of marriages have already taken place during the last 10 days in erstwhile Adilabad district.
Incidentally, many weddings got postponed when Coronavirus pandemic first hit the state. Some went ahead with the marriages, though by adhering to restrictions imposed by the government.
Seeing a similar situation developing on the horizon because of rapidly spreading Omicron, families are hastening up weddings.
A pandit said, “Many marriages have been fixed in this month. Many wedding dates are under finalisation. We are currently in high demand for solemnising marriages.”
