HYDERABAD: President Droupadi Murmu emphasised on the transformative potential of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and said that to build a strong school curriculum framework, the stakeholders should also consider imparting training in life skills as laid out in the policy.
“This will foster technical skills and emotional strength to face any crisis. The students should cultivate compassion and empathy and work towards the progress of other people.” She added that it was essential to “consistently pursue one’s passions, as it fosters positive energy and serves as inspiration for others”.
President Murmu, who flagged off the grand finale of the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet’s centenary celebrations, said, “For any institution, the centenary year is worth celebrating. In the long 100 years, academic institutions could face many challenges. Based on its experiences, the Hyderabad Public School empowers and equips the students to be strong decision-makers.”
The ceremony was attended by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, minister Danasari Anasuya ‘Seethakka’ and education secretary B. Venkatesham.
Governor Soundararajan spoke about the message of the National Education Policy and how it was centered on the idea that “the power of learning is by doing”.
“The NEP believes in moving children from beyond classrooms. It is imperative that we move them to the sports field, social field and the open stage. The theme of the school exemplifies ‘Be Vigilant’ which sums up how a student and society should behave,” she added.
The finale, scheduled until December 27, will have a host of events, including a golf tournament, carnival, entrepreneurship summit, and a musical concert by the popular Bollywood trio of Shankar-Ehsan-Loy.
