Visakhapatnam: A toddler travelling to hospital in a bus on his mother’s lap lost his life before the bus reached the hospital, leaving the mother devastated.
According to family members and hospital staff, the toddler Cherry died near the Yalamanchili Government Hospital on Monday morning. His mother Karri Kumari, a resident of Penugollu in S. Rayavaram mandal, was taking two-year-old Cherry on Monday morning to Yelamanchili for treatment of a chronic disease afflicting the boy for some time.
Soon after reaching Yelamanchili, Karri Kumari rushed Cherry to the government hospital, asking doctors to save her child. Duty doctor Subhash, after checking the boy, pronounced that he had already died. The shocked mother kept on insisting that her son be somehow saved.
Cherry's father Tataji is a police constable. He has been living separately for some time due to differences with his wife.
Tataji’s family did not allow Karri Kumari to take Cherry's body for the last rites until his father arrived.
