AAP eyes Telangana after big Delhi win
Hyderabad: Fuelled by the resounding victory in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to focus on Telangana.
The party has decided to foray into the Tela-ngana political arena through the Greater Hyderabad Municipal elections which are scheduled towards the end of this year.
Though it has decided to enter in state politics in a big way, through the GHMC elections, interestingly AAP has opened its account in urban local bodies of the state by winning the Ambedkar Nagar ward in Adilabad Municipality in the recently concluded municipal polls in the state.
AAP Telangana state convenor, B. Ramu Goud and Joint Secretary Raheed-ul-Haque, after the Delhi poll results, met the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal at Delhi and requested him to campaign in the ensuing GHMC elections.
Ramu Goud said that during their meeting the AAP chief, they were asked them to identify the core issues of Hyderabad city and also involve the local people’s organisations and institutions accordingly, and prepare a political strategy for the GHMC polls.
He said that as part of AAP’s nationwide campaign to connect around 1 crore people from across the nation from February 23 to March 23, the Telangana unit is also taking up a membership drive.
Meanwhile, Ms Priyanka Kakkar, an observer of Telangana AAP wing, will visit the state to take stock of the situation and after which the party will take a call on GHMC elections, he added.
