Fire at dairy and garment stores in Mallepally, property worth Rs.22 lakh gutted

Hyderabad: A fire gutted a dairy and an adjacent garments shop in Mallepally early on Tuesday, destroying property worth over Rs 22 lakh. Officials said the fire began at the common entrance to Alsafa Dairy and a factory outlet garments shop adjacent to it.

“Around 1.50 am my employee Naseem, who lives in the locality, called me about the fire in my garments shop. I reached the shop at 2.05 am and called the fire emergency services,” Abdul Wazeer, owner of the garments shop, said.

Two fire tenders with nine firefighters were sent to the spot and they declared the fire under control at 4.22 am, said B. Narsimha, Assembly station fire officer.

During the preliminary investigation, Habeebnagar police suspected that a short circuit caused the fire.
