Omnibus with fake docus seized in Salem
Salem: In a surprise development, regional transport officials here on Tuesday seized an omnibus, which was being allegedly operated from Salem to Coimbatore illegally with a motorbike registration number. This came to light as a team of transport officials led by the Salem West RTO Damodaran, following a tip-off, conducted a surprise inspection at Salem new bus stand today.
Officials, while checking the documents of omnibuses parked inside the Salem bus terminus, found that one of them was curiously bearing a motorbike registration number. After checking the vehicle's chassis number, it was found that the bus was actually registered in Andhra Pradesh, forcing the officials to immediately impound the bus.
The RTO Mr. Damodaran, said, “a businessman from Coimbatore has apparently purchased the bus in Andhra Pradesh and operated it here without proper registration in Tamil Nadu as a passenger bus. He also created fake documents. Further investigations will be launched to take legal action against him.”
