Accused first attempted to steal question papers in June

Hyderabad: Pulidindi Praveen Kumar and Atla Rajashekar, the main accused in the TSPSC question paper leak scam, had first attempted to get access to question papers as early as in June 2022, but could not succeed. On the third day of the custodial interrogation the nine accused have been questioned together and confronted with each other's confessional statements.

It was learnt that the accused told cops that they used to access the computers in the confidential section, only after the section incharge left the area and also the last employee in the building had left.

They made sure except the watchman, lift operator and a few others involved in cleaning works, no other staff from any department were in the building, when they entered the confidential section. It was also learnt that the duo tampered the CCTVs in the areas leading to the confidential section to erase their movements.

The accused had attempted to lay their hands on the question papers targeting Group I in June itself, but to their surprise, the question paper was not ready then. They waited for the opportunity patiently and finally laid hands on it in October 2022, a few days before the test was conducted.

Meanwhile, the SIT chief A.R. Srinivas along with his team visited the TSPSC office and inspected the premises. It was also learnt that the accused persons who were in the police custody were also taken to the TSPSC premises and asked to explain about their activities in their respective areas of operations.

On the third day, the accused were questioned one by one, in the presence of other accused persons, to verify their revelations and also corroborate them with that of other accused persons. This include their statements recorded during the custodial interrogation.
