CHENNAI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would not be attending the events organized at the Rajiv Gandhi memorial in Sriperumbudur on Sunday to mark the 32nd death anniversary of his father due to unavoidable reasons, TNCC media department head A Gopanna said on Saturday.
Rahul Gandhi, who was present at the swearing in of the new Congress government in Karnataka in Bengaluru on Saturday along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi, was earlier expected to take part in the programmes organized by the TNCC at Sriperumbudur.
While TNCC president K S Alagiri and Leader of the Congress legislative party K Selvaperunthagai would lead the remembrance event, other events would also be held to mark the anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi at Sathyamurthy Bhavan, where floral tributes would be paid to the late leader. His statue in Little Mount will also be garlanded during the day.
