Viveka murder: Avinash Reddy cites mother's hospitalisation, keeps off CBI probe

ANANTAPUR: Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy on Sunday expressed his “inability” to the CBI for an appearance before it on Monday due to his mother's poor health. This was stated in a reply to the CBI notice directing him to appear before it on May 22. But the CBI insisted that the MP must appear before the agency on Monday.

The MP had not appeared before the CBI on May 16 and May 19 at its Koti office in Hyderabad. As for the May 16, he cited “prior-fixed official engagements in Pulivendula” as the reason and sought four days' time. As for May 19, Reddy said his mother Lakshmamma suffered cardiac-related issues and was under treatment at the ICU of Viswa Bharathi hospital.

The CBI had issued a fresh notice to him on Saturday seeking his appearance on Monday. The MP said he would report to the CBI only after his mother was discharged from the hospital.
