Kozhikode: Dismissing the media reports that two civil police officers had been deputed for his security, prominent Sunni leader A.P Aboobacker Musliyar made it clear that he has no police protection. "It is untrue. I have been working among the common people without any security arrangements provided by anyone. Nor have I requested the government for police cover," Musaliyar said.
In the wake of the controversy following police personnel deputed as camp followers and for household duties, the reports were that unwanted police protection were provided to religious leaders also, including Kanthapuram, causing burden on the exchequer. The reports were widely circulated in social media slamming the left government for dancing to the tunes of religious leaders and Godmen. "No police personnel is looking after my security while travelling nor at functions. God has protected me till now and if he wishes, it would be continued," Musliyar explained. He flayed the media for publishing such reports sans any verification.
