RPF staff save passenger's life at Tirupati Railway Station
TIRUPATI: Three Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rescued a female passenger, who slipped between a platform and a moving train at Tirupati Railway Station on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at 5:15 am on platform number one when the passenger accidentally slipped between the platform and a moving train.
The passenger had disembarked from the running Kerala Express (Trivandrum- New Delhi) but found herself in grave danger as she slipped and was on the verge of being trapped between the train and the platform. The RPF personnel, K. Lokanadham, K.M. Reddy, and M. Sampoorna, sprang into action upon witnessing the distressing scene, and pulled the passenger to safety, preventing her from falling off the moving train.
Following the rescue, the RPF personnel brought the passenger, identified as Gokila Karunanithi, 23, from Kattukottai, Salem district, Tamil Nadu, to the RPF Post for further examination and assistance. Gokila later explained that she intended to board a train to Salem but mistakenly boarded the Kerala Express. Realising her mistake, she decided to jump from the moving train, despite its gaining speed. K. Madhusudhan, the CI (Circle Inspector) of Tirupati RPF, commended the staff members for their commitment to passenger safety.
