Green Bapatla campaign on July 28
VIJAYAWADA: Officials are undertaking a Green Bapatla campaign on July 28 under which two lakh saplings will be planted on the day throughout the district as part of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) programme.
Bapatla collector Ranjit Basha suggested that officials could plant the saplings at village secretariats, Rythu Bandhu Kendras, government lands, hospitals, offices and guest houses. He directed officials to involve volunteers, students, MPTCs, ZPTCs, ward members, education institutions and self-help groups in the greening programme.
The plantation drive will improve greenery in the district, contain pollution and protect the environment, he underlined.
