VIJAYAWADA: The AP government would contact the government service pensioners who failed to get their biometric fingerprints and iris scan done or failed to submit their life certificates to avail pension. Treasury officials will visit their homes to verify their status and issue a certificate so that their pensions can be released soon.
AP has nearly 3.61 lakh pensioners or retired government employees and their dependent family members availing service pension and family pension. Every pensioner has to submit the life certificate once every year to continue getting the pension. In case no such certificate is submitted, his or her pension will be stopped.
Nearly, 3.51 lakh pensioners submitted their life certificate but 10,000 of them are yet to do so for varied reasons including inability to register their biometrics like fingerprints/ do iris scan due to old age. Some pensioners submit their life certificate through the Jeevanpraman app online. But, many face problems to submit the certificate and avail the pension.
The state government has come to their rescue. Treasury officials will reach out to them at their home, verify their physical status and check their Aadhaar number and the registered mobile number linked to the pension account and issue a certificate. Accordingly, the district treasury office will release the pension.
Meanwhile, the state government is taking up eKYC by collecting or updating details of mobile numbers and addresses so that it can reach out to the pensioners who failed to submit their life certificate in order to initiate necessary action and ensure that all eligible pensioners get their pension without any hassle.
Nearly 95 per cent of the pensioners completed their eKYC in the state so far.
