No irregularities in PhD admissions: KU
Warangal: The deans of Kakatiya University's several departments rejected the charges of anomalies in PhD admissions in a joint statement issued in Hanamkonda on Tuesday.
The PhD category-II admissions process was transparent, with proper weightage given to the reservation rule and merit. Following the entrance exam, the key was made public by posting it on the university website and soliciting modifications and recommendations.
To avoid irregularities, the interview process was videotaped for the first time in the University's history. To achieve social fairness, the selection committees were formed by experienced faculty members who comprised representatives of SC, ST, BC, women, and differently-abled people.
However, some of the candidates who did not meet the criteria for merit and reservation made uncivilised, unconstitutional, and fraudulent claims. They allegedly intimidated authorities, abused university officials, destroyed university property, and harmed the university's reputation.
By banding together with some political party leaders to benefit them in the next assembly elections, the candidates attempted to put pressure on the authorities for admittance in an improper manner.
Taking advantage of this, some retired professors, part-time teachers, non-teaching personnel, and a few executive council members are stirring candidates against university administrators to profit from the campus instability, they claimed. The deans of various departments asked civil society and the general public to recognise the realities and the role of rogue elections that are ruining the university's image.
