Schools told to upload data on UDISE app by Nov 30
Bengaluru: The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has directed the heads of all 34 educational districts, BEOs, headmasters of all state and centrally sponsored schools to upload their school-related information on the Unified District Information on School Education (UDISE) app by November 30.
In a circular, Principal Secretary of Primary and Secondary Education S. Umashankar warned that the government will stop releasing grants to schools and facilities to students, like uniforms, bicycles, textbooks, shoes, socks, and others, provided by both central and state governments, if they fail to upload information on the app.
Schools should upload information related to the strength of students, both girls and boys, the number of students availing benefits, the status of implementation of mid-day meals, the distribution of milk, the availability of facilities for physical and mental growth of children like playgrounds and toilets for boys and girls separately, the healthcare facilities and the number of students availing state and central scholarships.
Schools should also upload information about facilities provided for promotion of education of girls, specially-abled children and SC/ST/OBCs. Information related to achievements in sports, cultural, academic, curricular and extracurricular activities should be part of the upload. A separate UDISE code number has been created for each school to upload information.

UDISE is a ‘data visualisation app’ providing for a user-friendly visual representation of complex analytics of the education scenario in the country.
The app has been designed with technical inputs from the UNICEF, in collaboration with the National Institute of Education Planning and Administration (NIEPA) and the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development uses UDISE (Unified District Information System for Education), NAS (National Assessment Survey) and demographic data to address gaps and monitor programmes in the education sector.
“Since the enactment of Right to Education Act, much progress has been made in areas of systemic readiness, improved access and enrolment of children, infrastructure, sanitation facilities in schools, recruitment of teachers and training of untrained teachers,” officials said.
