Rains Lash Vizag and Surroundings, Bringing Down Temperature

Visakhapatnam: Rains lashed Visakhapatnam and surrounding areas on Monday evening, providing much-needed relief from the scorching heat and bringing down the temperature.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Amaravati attributed the rainfall to a trough in easterly winds at mean sea level, extending from Sri Lanka to Southwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation lay over Southwest Bay of Bengal off Tamil Nadu coast, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.

According to the IMD report, heavy rainfall occurred in isolated places over north coastal and south coastal Andhra Pradesh, including Yanam. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to occur at isolated places over the same area for the next two days.

The rains brought much-needed relief to the residents of Visakhapatnam, who had been experiencing hot and humid conditions for the past few days. The temperature dropped significantly following the rainfall, making it more comfortable for people to venture out and enjoy the cooler weather.
