Tirupati: At least four migrant workers were killed and two others injured on Tuesday when a speeding truck ran over them while they were doing patchworks on the highway near Mocherla village in Gudluru mandal of Nellore district.
According to police, the incident took place in the morning. The truck bearing registration number AP39 TK 5909 was empty and travelling from Ongole to Kavali. While three workers died on the spot, one succumbed to injuries while being shifted to a hospital. Two others are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as K. Madhav Rao (45) of Munnetikolu, Sheik Kasim (40) of Chagallu, N. Sai Chand (30) and O. Subba Naidu (47) of Singarayakonda.
A case has been registered and Kandukur CI Venkat Rao is investigating.
