6-member inter-state ATM looter gang arrested in Odisha's Bolangir
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha police on Thursday arrested a six-member inter-state ATM looter gang in Bolangir district.
The gang allegedly looted around Rs 7 lakh by cutting an SBI ATM machine with the help of a gas-cutter at Saramuhan area under Patnagarh police station in Bolangir district on December 16.
As per reports, special teams of Bolangir police conducted raids at several places in the country to arrest six looters of the gang.
“All the nabbed looters are from Bharatpur and Alwar districts of Rajasthan. They are involved in many inter-state ATM loots in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. They fixed local numbers in a speed vehicle to commit the crime in Bolangir. Some of the looters had even come to Odisha on flight. We watched their movement captured on CCTV cameras fixed at different places in Bolangir. Based on that evidence, we nabbed the looters,” said Bolangir superintendent of police (SP) Rishikesh Khilari.
The arrested looters are involved in many criminal cases in Odisha, Hyderabad and Karnataka. They were using forged number plates and identity cards to hoodwink police.
“We’ll apply before the court to bring the looters to remand. Then they will be interrogated and the crime scenes will be recreated to get more information about their modus operandi,” the SP added.
