BRS MLC Padi Kaushik Reddy appears before NWC
Hyderabad: BRS MLC Padi Kaushik Reddy is learnt to have tendered an unconditional apology before the National Women's Commission (NWC) in Delhi on Tuesday in connection with his alleged derogatory remarks against Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.
He also reportedly told the commission that he would write a letter to the Governor expressing his apology. Following this, the NWC is learnt to have closed the case.
Last week, the commission had summoned Kaushik Reddy on February 21. Accompanied by his lawyers, Kaushik Reddy appeared before the commission on Tuesday and initially tried to defend his remarks, stating that they were not 'derogatory' in the Telangana dialect.
He reportedly cited some proverbs in the Telangana dialect where such words were purportedly frequently used. The commission was not convinced. Following this, Kaushik Reddy reportedly tendered his apology.
Kaushik Reddy had allegedly made the derogatory remarks against the Governor last month for not giving assent to seven Bills that the state government as sent to her for approval. He used foul language while expressing anger that the Governor was deliberately sitting on the Bills passed by the Assembly since September last year.
