HYDERABAD: The executive council of Telangana University in Nizamabad appointed a three-man committee to monitor the administration of the university. Following allegations against incumbent vice-chancellor D. Ravinder Gupta, the council withdrew the powers of the VC.
Commissioner of collegiate education Naveen Mittal, education secretary Vakati Karuna and other members of the EC replaced the in-charge registrar B. Vidyavardhini with M. Yadagiri as the new registrar.
Meanwhile, 85 daily-wage workers were also removed. The decisions taken by Gupta without approval of the EC have all been kept aside.
Gupta has decided to approach the higher authorities to explain the circumstances that led him to take certain decisions. Many academicians are urging him to fight legally against the decisions of EC committee members. “Few decisions will be taken as per the need and it will be ratified in the Executive Council meeting”, TU sources said.
