HYDERABAD: In order to create a dialogue and bring about awareness among youths regarding their participation in electoral politics, Vidhaata, a political consulting unit, conducted a panel discussion, ‘The role of Telangana youth in the upcoming elections,’ on Friday at Osmania University Arts College.
Speakers from included UPSC trainer Akella Raghavendra, Prof. Sujatha Surepally, senior journalist and author Nelanti Madhu, OU JAC member Srinivas Kota and Raj Janagam, political analyst and founder of Vidhaata.
The speakers emphasized that even in other countries, children were aware of politics. This highlighted the significance of political awareness and engagement from a young age. They also pointed out that many uneducated politicians manipulate people for votes by providing freebies, indicating the need for informed decision-making among voters.
They said that politicians often focus on arithmetic and emotions rather than addressing the real issues. The speakers said that youths should play different roles, such as casting votes, influencing other voters, and even contesting in elections to bring about change in politics.
