HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday said that the first decision of the BRS government, after retaining power for a third term, would be to extend Hyderabad Metro Rail connectivity to Patancheru (via Kukatpally) and Hayathnagar (via LB Nagar).
The CM was speaking at a public meeting in Patancheru after inaugurating the 2BHK housing complex in Kollur, Medha Rail Coach Factory at Kondakal and laying the foundation for construction of a government super specialty hospital in Patancheru.
"There is a need for providing Metro connectivity from Patancheru to Hayathnagar keeping in view the high traffic density along this route. This will become a reality if you bring BRS to power again," Rao said. “In this term, we did not have adequate time.”
The CM stated that the land values in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh had turned upside down after bifurcation, with the land rates shooting up in Telangana due to the development achieved in the last nine years and crashing in AP.
He referred to TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu's recent comment that there was a time when a person could acquire four acres of land in Telangana by selling one acre in Andhra but now one could purchase 50 to 100 acres in Andhra by selling one acre in Telangana, Rao said, "Chandrababu's comments shows that the situation has turned upside down. In Patancheru, an acre costs nearly Rs 30 crore. With this amount, one can purchase a hundred acres in Andhra."
Earlier, the CM inaugurated the double-bedroom dignity housing project for poor at KCR Nagar at Kollur, the largest government-funded housing project in Asia. The 2BHK project, on 145 acres costing Rs 1,489 crore, comprises 15,660 2BHK units, 117 blocks and 234 elevators. He launched the process of distribution of flats by handing over ownership documents and keys to six women.
Later, the CM inaugurated the Rs 1,000-crore Medha Rail Coach Factory, the largest private coach factory in India, at Kondakal in Shankarpally mandal. Telangana-based Medha Servo Group and Stadler Rail established the unit. Apart from manufacturing components for the two Vande Bharat trains being operated in the Telugu states, the facility had already supplied 160 coaches to the railways.
The Medha Servo Group plans to establish a wagon manufacturing unit on 75 acres and the CM assured complete support. Rao announced Rs 30 crore each to three municipalities under the Patancheru Assembly constituency, Rs 10 crore each to three GHMC divisions and Rs 15 lakh each to 55 gram panchayats as special grant to undertake development activities.
