VIJAYAWADA: Guntur Municipal Corporation commissioner Keerthi Chekuri on Friday asked people to contact helpline number 0863-2345103 in case they are facing any problems in their areas because of continued rains.
Addressing engineering and public health officials through teleconference, she asked them to remain prepared, as the Meteorological Department has forecast rain for another two days. The commissioner asked them to take all measures to ensure that people do not suffer due to rains.
She advised officials and staff to visit areas allotted to them along with secretaries of the areas concerned and identify problems of people. She ordered that rainwater accumulated in low-lying areas be pumped out using motors.
Keerthi asked officials to keep generators ready at drinking water pumping stations. This will help ensure that even if electric power trips due to winds, drinking water could still be made available to people in various localities without any problems.
She asked secretaries to inform people living in dilapidated buildings to take necessary precautions during rains.
