Incessant Rains: HMWS&SB to double water quality tests
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) managing director Dana Kishore on Friday directed officials to double the water quality tests that are currently being done in the city. Kishore held a teleconference with the directors, general managers and other officials at the head office in Khairatabad given the incessant rains for the past two days.
He said that the deputy general managers should check the operations of flood water removal and sewer jetting machines in flooded areas. The concerned CGMs were ordered to monitor these from time to time. The general managers were directed to prioritise solving the problem of water stagnation in people’s houses. He said that they should also visit manholes and areas with sewage overflow and take appropriate measures.
The workers were advised to wear helmets, gloves, gum boots and other protective gear while at the site. A suggestion to distribute chlorine tablets in flood-affected areas was also discussed by the general manager of the quality analysis wing in coordination with other officers.
