Mahila Police will not be used for traditional police duties in AP
VIJAYAWADA: DGP K.V. Rajendranath Reddy on Friday issued orders to all the police commissioners, range DIGs and district SPs not to use Mahila (women) police attached to the Village and Ward Secretariats, for traditional police duties.
He said the main purpose of setting up the Mahila Police was to identify the problems faced by women and children in the villages and coordinate with other departments to solve them.
They should not be used for general police duties such as security, reception. They should not also be called frequently to the police stations.
