Oommen Chandy stood for social justice: VHR
Hyderabad: Congress leaders held a condolence meeting at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday to remember the late former Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, who passed away on July 18th.
Presiding over the gathering, former PCC president V. Hanumantha Rao emphasised Chandy’s commitment to social justice. He praised Chandy for extending respect to opposition politicians while lamenting the current scenario where opposition is often taken for granted. Hanumantha Rao also pointed out that, unlike Chandy, Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrashekar Rao does not directly meet with people and suggesting that the Chief Minister could benefit from learning a lesson or two from Chandy's approach.
Vice president of Kisan cell M. Kodanda Reddy stated regarded Chandy as a dedicated leader who inspired people, and the remembrance was intended to send a message to the youth of this generation. Chandy's simplicity and rare leadership qualities were deemed worthy of emulation, and it was expressed that he will continue to be an inspiration due to his exceptional work. Reddy urged the youth to follow in Chandy's footsteps and be inspired by his legacy.
