KGH to continue offline OP tickets

Visakhapatnam: King George Hospital will continue issuing offline out-patient (OP) tickets till people are comfortable with using the online Abha app for using the out-patient services at the hospital.

This was stated by KGH supervising medical officer in-charge Radhakrishna. “Issuing of OP tickets will continue through counters established for the purpose,” he stated.

Radhakrishna said awareness about Abha app will be spread within public through newspapers and broadcast media.

The medical officer’s assurance followed a demonstration on Thursday by Communist Party of India (CPI) against the newly introduced online system for issuance of OP tickets in government hospitals.

Activists of the CPI Visakha district zilla samiti staged a protest in front of the King George Hospital against the central government's decision to issue OP tickets in government hospitals through the Abha (Ayushman Bharat) app.

Speaking on the occasion, Visakhapatnam district CPI secretary M. Paidiraju said the Abha app is testing the patience of patients who are ill and want to see the doctors immediately for treatment.

“Illiterate and rural people come to KGH for treatment. They do not know how to use the Abha app,” he pointed out.
