Rajiv Kumar to Focus on IPS Transfers, Bogus Voters Allegations in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Central Election Commission team comprising Chief Election Commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar, who is all set to visit Hyderabad in the first week of October, is likely to focus on three major issues such as measures to be taken for smooth conduct of polls in banned Maoist affected areas at border of Chhattisgarh, interaction with all political parties and law and order issues.

With at least 17 polling stations reporting nil polling during the previous election at Telangana and Chhattisgarh border, the Central Election Commission would conduct a day long meeting with the Telangana police officers and would also collect details of transfers of police officers. The Central Election Commission allegedly collected details of IPS officers including Superintendent of Police (SPs) who are still working in the same place for the past three years.

Sources stated that the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar focused on the political party leader's complaints lodged with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana on bogus voters and illegal deletion of voters in Telangana. Recently, the BJP and Congress party leaders have met the CEO and submitted their complaints to bogus voters.

A few days ago, the BJP Election Commission Affairs Committee chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Rajregarding discrepancies in the preparation of the draft electoral roll. The CEO directed the DEOs to submit a report on these matters by October 19.

Marri Shashidhar Reddy submitted a formal petition to the CEO, outlining serious concerns regarding the preparation of the draft electoral roll in the state. As part of his request, the BJP leader urged the CEO to thoroughly examine the issue and take any necessary actions. The TPCC leaders also filed petitions before the CEO in connection with bogus voters.

Sources further added that the Chief Election Commissioner would inquire into the new voters enrolment drive taking place in Telangana from all District Election officers.
