Cyclone Alert: Bay of Bengal Depression Intensifies

During the subsequent three days it will move towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coast

Visakhapatnam: The depression over the west-central region of Bay of Bengal on Sunday moved west-northwestwards, at a speed of six km per hour and lay centered over the same region, about 590 km south of Odisha’s Paradip, 740 km south of West Bengal’s Digha and 880 km southwest of Bangladesh’s Khepupara.

It is likely to further intensify into a deep depression and move north-west, recurve and move north northeast during the subsequent three days towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts. The trough now runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with the depression over West Central Bay of Bengal to Sri Lanka and extends up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
