VIJAYAWADA: A tragic road accident on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway has claimed the lives of two young men and left six others severely injured. The accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday near the village of Kethanakonda in Ibrahimpatnam mandal.
The victims, identified as 23-year-old Dharma Teja from Nizamabad district and his friend Shanti Kumar, also 23, from Sanath Nagar, were part of a group of eight friends traveling to Hyderabad. They had just completed a trip to Visakhapatnam and were returning home when the unfortunate incident occurred.
According to police reports, the group's car collided with a stationary lorry on the national highway due to the driver's reckless driving. The impact of the collision was severe, causing fatal injuries to Dharma Teja and Shanti Kumar.
Six other occupants of the car - Kiran Teja, Priyanka, Mounika, Dharmappuri, Biswajith Thakre, and Mayana Gayatri - sustained serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment. Their condition remains critical, and they are closely monitoring the situation.
The Ibrahimpatnam police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident.
