Bengaluru Leads with 68 Cases in Karnataka's Daily COVID-19 Update

Mangaluru: Karnataka recorded 78 new positive cases and one death on Friday. The death was reported from Dakshina Kannada district. According to the bulletin from the Karnataka health department currently, the state has 175 active cases, with 162 individuals under home isolation and 13 receiving hospital care, including 6 in intensive care units. Seven people were discharged today.

Bengaluru led the tally with the highest number of cases at 68, followed by Chikkamagaluru with 4 cases. Dakshina Kannada and Ramanagara each reported 2 cases, while Mysuru and Bengaluru Rural recorded one case each.

The state's positivity rate over the last 24 hours stands at 3.29 percent, with a case fatality rate of 1.28 percent. Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao who was in Mangaluru on Friday said that the Cabinet Sub-Committee, tasked with overseeing and managing the state's COVID-19 response, is scheduled to convene on Monday to assess the current scenario.

Minister Rao urged the public not to succumb to panic, emphasizing the importance of officials remaining alert and cautious.

While the health department has implemented measures to enhance testing, hospitals have been directed to adhere to guidelines. The government has set a daily testing target of 330 individuals in Dakshina Kannada.
