TFI is in hands of some big producers: SP Balasubramaniam

Encouraging small movies will help industry to boost and provides employment for thousands, he said.

Vijayawada: Renowned singer S.P Balasubramaniam, popularly known as Balu, made controversial statements on Telugu Film Industry (TFI) as well as Telugu people here on Sunday.

Addressing a gathering after his felicitation organised by the Rotary Club, he said that unity, dedication and fighting spirit were missing among Telugu people. Telugu people, who earlier fought for the society have now changed their ways.
Balu said that one should respect the culture and follow it. Music without tradition has no meaning, he said. “Some people are commenting on my age but I am always a young star,” he added.

Balu opined that Telugu filmmakers are not in a position to produce quality output with the immense expectations from fans and image constrains of star actors. Telugu film industry has become impotent with these constrains, he said.

Balu asked the fans who demand awards to their favorite stars to question their heroes to make good films and make Telugu film Industry proud. Balu also objected to the monopoly of a few big producers in the Telugu film industry (TFI).

“Telugu cinema is in the hands of a few big people who are holding theatres with them and creating problems for the release of small films,” he said.
