Clinics focus on money, shun security in Tirupati
Tirupati: Private hospitals in Tirupati are concentrating on money instead of providing security in hospitals. Few incidents in the recent times brought out the negligence of the hospital managements.
In one of the case, a thief entered the hospital with a stethoscope and robbed jewellery pretending as a doctor. While in another case, an inpatient has gone out of the hospital taking a walk, the hospital staff noticed it when their relatives questioned about the missing patient. These two incidents which took place last week proved to be a tough nut to crack for the police.
As per Tirupati East police, a woman named Geetanjali admitted in Gopi Madhavi hospital on January 18. A thief pretending as a doctor entered the patient’s room and asked the relatives to stay outside to do some medical procedure. After the relatives went outside the duplicate doctor has pulled the jewellery from the patient and went away. The relatives of Geetanjali informed the same to hospital staff and registered a police complaint. The police are still in search of the culprit.
In another case, N. Gangamma a heart patient from Nellore has admitted at DBR hospital in Tirupati on January 17. The patient after undergoing angiogram in the hospital she was advised to walk. Being depressed mentally and physically the patient has came out of the hospital and walked nearly for 5Kms and fell under a tree near her relatives house. When the relatives of Gangamma questioned about her missing there is no response from the hospital staff as per the police. Later, the police has identified her and handed to her relatives.
In both the above cases the negligence of the hospital managements and security lapses are clearly seen. The police has faced difficulty to analyse the CCTV footages from the hospitals as they have got a very low end cameras of no use. Some of the private hospitals are careful and has no security lapses, while some has the worst security. It would be better for the society, if the hospitals concentrate on security lapses rather than planning to fleece the patients with bills.
