Woman constable breastfeeds crying baby as mother writes exams
Anantapur: A woman constable breastfed a crying baby at an examination centre in Rajampet of Annamayya district on Sunday, when aspirants for jobs in police department had been writing their written test at the centre.
The four-month-old baby’s mother too had been taking the test at the examination centre, located in the Annamayya Engineering College, Rajampet. Before going into the examination hall, the woman had left her baby with her mother.
When the baby started crying incessantly leaving the grandmother helpless, Amaravati, a woman constable of Mannur police station on duty at the examination centre took the baby and tried to calm it. When the constable, who had been lactating, realised that the baby had been crying because it was hungry, she breastfed her. The baby then fell asleep.
Higher authorities and others at the examination centre appreciated constable Amaravati for her initiative in feeding an infant not known to her.
