AP government gives land rights to thousands in Gajuwaka

Visakhapatnam: The AP government has issued GO No. 44 giving rights to thousands of residents living on government lands for ages in Gajuwaka area of Visakhapatnam.

Speaking to reporters at the YSRC party office in the port city on Wednesday, Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy profusely thanked Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for fulfilling his election promise.

The YSRC MLA recalled that TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, while being the chief minister in 1999, had formed a house committee to study the issue of people residing on government lands in Gajuwaka. The house committee made several recommendations, but none of them had been fulfilled.

“During his padayatra, Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised people of Gajuwaka that he would resolve the issue if elected to power. Accordingly, he has fulfilled his promise,” Nagi Reddy underlined.

He said the beneficiaries are extremely happy and want the government to extend an online facility to register their lands.

The MLA pointed out that those having land below or equal to 100 square yards can register their lands free of cost. Those having 100 to 200 square yards will have to pay 50 percent of the document value. The value will be the one existing on the date the document is signed.

YSRC Visakhapatnam district president Panchakarla Ramesh Babu said the GO will benefit 23,500 families of Gajuwaka. He said in the past GO Nos. 7, 302 and 379 had been issued. But they did not facilitate registrations. GO No. 44 has resolved this issue, providing permanent rights on land to the owners.

Ramesh Babu assured that soon the issue of Simhachalam lands too will be resolved.
