Police arrest four in attack on Congress youth leader
Waranagal: The Hanamkonda police have arrested four persons who allegedly attacked Congress youth leader Thota Pavan, which had created a sensation in the erstwhile Warangal district.
The attack took place during the Haath Se Haath Jodo padayatra led by TPCC president Revanth Reddy, at the main Chowrastha in central city on Monday. A gang allegedly attempted to kill Pavan.
The incident had taken place near the Hanamkonda police station and raised criticism over the failure of the police to ensure law and order right under their nose. However, in response to a complaint lodged by the Congress, the police registered an attempt-to-murder case and speeded up the investigation by reviewing the footage of the CCTV cameras in the location. After identifying a few attackers from the video footage, the police nabbed four youths.
The four were Chekka Suman, Ravulakolanu Narendar, Gudikandula Vinod Kumar and Citimore Sunar Krishna. A manhunt was on to arrest more persons in this connection, police said.
