SCB Board meeting today
Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board would meet on Friday to discuss the programmes, electoral rules, election schedule and other details for the April 30 elections, SCB CEO D. Madhukar Naik said n Thursday.
“The electoral rules allow for inclusion of names in the voter list after the election notification is issued. Residents whose names have not been included in the published voter list can request inclusion of their names. The dates will be approved on Friday,” Naik said.
A source said many people were stating that the elections were being held in violation of cantonment electoral rules. As per the 2007 legislation, delimitation of the wards should be done, sources said.
“For delimitation, public objections must be called for and the suggestions have to be referred to the Central government which should issue a gazette notification. The view is that elections cannot be held till the delimitation of wards is done,” said the source. Besides, reservation of a ward for the SC community has to be reverified,” the source said.
