TS governor meets Preeti\'s parents at NIMS
HYDERABAD: Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan assured the family of Dr Daravath Preeti, who had attempted suicide after alleged harassment by a senior, that she would talk with officials and ensure that justice would be done to the PG medical student.
The Governor met Dr Preeti at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (Nims) at Panjagutta. She later met the hospital management and directed them to give the best medical aid to Dr Preeti.
“I met Dr Preeti’s parents, and learnt that she is a very bright student who had passed her UPSC and had attended the interview. Dr Preeti wanted to serve the people due to which she chose the medical profession, Dr Soundararajan said.
“It’s very unfortunate she is a victim of ragging, I will communicate with the superior officials and see that the investigation is done properly and she gets justice,” the Governor said.
BJP state Mahila Morcha activists along with BJP former MP Ravindra Naik gathered at the hospital and demanded that stern action be taken against KMC College principal and head of department for not taking the issue seriously even after the victim and her parents gave a written complaint.
“KMC College HoD Dr Niranjan Reddy and Principal Dr Mohan Das after the incident called Dr Preeti’s parents and forcibly took signatures on three blank papers. That proves that there is foul play. We demand a judicial inquiry into the incident. The college licence should be cancelled and the HoD and Princiapl should immediately suspended,” K. Geetha Murthy, BJP Mahila Morcha state president, said.
