Hyderabad: Traffic comes to a standstill
HYDERABAD: Massive traffic jams at the new junction near B.R. Ambedkar Open University towards Madhapur is driving commuters up the wall. The jam that starts building up from 6.30 pm eases only after 9.30 pm. So far no police personnel have been assigned to this junction and only individuals, either helpful passers-by or vehiclists, volunteer and steer the traffic during the peak hours. The junction is a new extension through Jubliee Hills Road No 45 connecting Madhapur to Hitec City. This is a daily issue at Kavuri Hills and frustrated commuters are earnestly awaiting a quick solution this problem.
Said Mr Kalyan Mannuru, a resident of Moosapet, “To avoid the traffic jam, the Cyberabad traffic police should deploy at least one traffic cop to help us reach home on time after slogging for hours at work. This jam is a daily affair due to which we reach home late every evening”. Ms Nishi D, another commuter, was equally frustrated. “Why can’t there be a traffic signal or traffic police deployed at this junction? It is clearly visible that it is an intersecting road so at least speeding and deadlocks can be controlled during the rush hour.”
‘’I don’t think the traffic police is even aware that the common man has been managing traffic for several weeks now. Why isn’t there is a single policeman deployed in this junction considering that thousands of vehicles cross this junction to commute to their home and workplace? What a pathetic situation we experience every day,” said Mr M. Kalyan, another commuter. Despite calling them several times, Cyberabad traffic police officials were not available to comment on the issue.
